One word that I would use to describe an artist/designer such as Antonio or CANE if you will, is dedicated. There has never been a point or time in his life where he wasn’t actively doing what he does and I guess that’s why he so likes the phrase, “I was born with it”. Born and raised in Miami, FL. Antonio’s journey as an artist began studying his uncle’s work and then practicing daily, drawing characters from comic books, coloring books and illustrating stories in school. This was the very beginning of how a hobby became a career.
Antonio is one of those people that I guess you can say is a natural, art seems to have chosen him he didn't really choose it. Always loving to draw and eagerly ready to practice without feeling a sense of burden or duty.
It wasn't until he was 16 years old before he truly began to see the potential of this expression. Starting with graffiti art, then cartooning/comic book characters and then more graffiti to painting on canvas, airbrush, graphic art and illustration. Seeing the potential for what it was, he enrolled in the Art Institute of Atlanta and then later on achieved an Associates degree in Graphic Design at Westwood College in Atlanta/Tucker, GA.
Antonio loves and appreciates the challenge of the creative process bragging that there is no type of visual art that he can’t do, just some that he has yet to try. Illustration, graphic design, acrylic paints, sketching and graffiti art as his core forms of expression. He continues to develop as an artist, not limiting himself to a particular style and tries
not to fall into trends in the name of staying competitive in such a tough industry.
A strong Hiphop influence keeps his work edgy, bold and sometimes taboo. This sets him apart from cookie cutter design styles and in a mindset of mind set of, “An artist first and a designer second.” Not so much taking away from the design process as adding a personal style and a sense of creativity to his work that is not usually encouraged to it.
Some of Antonio’s creative influences are Frank Morrison, Pablo Picasso, Norman Rockwell, Frederick Remington, Boris Vallejo, Frank Miller, MEAR One, COPE 2, and DONDI to name a few.
Currently in search of work that offers stability and challenge Antonio is now working on developing a T-shirt line ("F.R.E.S.H") while continuing to work freelance. To find out more about what he does
and what he’s doing you can email him!
